A Hallowe’en disco to raise the spirits

Children and parents had a hauntingly good time at Okehampton Gym and Trampoline Club’s Hallowe’en party on Friday 28th October. Held to raise money for competition equipment, the fancy dress disco saw children and parents arrive dressed as vampires, princesses, spiders, ghosts and ghouls.

We are holding a Hallowe’en fancy dress disco at the Pavilion in the Park on Friday 28th October, 6-8pm, £2.50 per person. This is a fundraising event to raise money for a sprung tumble track. ‘Bring a Parent to Gym’ week

Okehampton Gym, Trampoline and DMT Club ran a ‘Bring a Parent to Gym’ week in July, where parents of children in the pre-school and beginner classes could come and learn gymnastics skills with their children. The event was part of OCRA’s Sportsweek, which promotes health and fitness for all.

Festival tumbling and trampolining

Okehampton Gym, Trampoline and DMT Club wowed audiences with a tumbling and trampolining display on 10th July. The display was part of OCRA’s Sport and Fitness Festival, a week of fun sporting activities where anyone can come along and have a go.

Six medals from Totnes

Okehampton Gym, Trampoline and DMT Club had a good day at the Tornadoes competition in Totnes on 1st May, coming away with six medals. For many, it was their first experience of a trampoline competition. For the more seasoned competitors, it was a chance to try out a higher grade.

Down’s Syndrome Association visit SNAP

The Down’s Syndrome Association visited OCRA’s special needs class, SNAP, as part of Down’s Syndrome Awareness week, to see the impact our sessions have had on children and young people with disabilities in Okehampton and the local community.

We are running a ‘Sponsored Skills!’ event after half term to raise money for a sprung track. This can cost between £6,000 and £15,000, so we need as many gymnasts to get involved as possible. Well done to the West Devon gym team Katie Chapman, Melissa Doble-Headon, Oscar Hughes, Poppy Twort and Adam Voaden, who secured a bronze medal at the Devon Youth Games with superb performances on floor, vault and body management.
