A Hallowe’en disco to raise the spirits

Children and parents had a hauntingly good time at Okehampton Gym and Trampoline Club’s Hallowe’en party on Friday 28th October.

Held to raise money for competition equipment, the fancy dress disco saw children and parents arrive dressed as vampires, princesses, spiders, ghosts and ghouls.

After receiving their free ‘vampire’ cordial, the children played fun Hallowe’en games, including zombie musical statues, musical bumps and a dance off. There were prizes for the winners of each competition, including the best home-carved pumpkin and the best fancy dress costume.

A raffle added to the excitement of the evening, with prizes donated by Occasions in Okehampton, Quinns Hairdressing, Waitrose, the Pavilion in the Park, OCRA and parents from the club. The event was entirely run by volunteers, and raised approximately £285 towards equipment.

The gym and trampoline club has 240 members and 270 children and young people on its waiting list. It is currently looking for funding to purchase competition equipment so that its gymnasts and trampolinists can enter higher level competitions.
