Brian Camp Olympic Workshop 2024

Brian Camp Olympic Workshop 2024Olympic gold medallist Bryony Page’s coach, Brian Camp, led an all-day workshop at Okehampton Flyers on Saturday 21 December.

Brian is a GB Olympic coach for trampoline, and is current coach to Bryony Page and Olympian Izzy Songhurst, as well as other GB squad trampolinists. This is his second workshop at the club.

The day workshop started with a warm up game, followed by stretches and work on basic skills. The gymnasts then worked on the new skills they have been learning, as well as prep and play skills, and had a question and answer session with Brian at the end.

Club gymnasts also had a session with former GB Master Coach Rosie Bascombe earlier in 2024.

The workshop was the last event of the term for the club. The club’s gymnasts had a brilliant day and are now feeling very inspired for 2025.

The club has had a brilliant year, with over 100 gymnasts entering British Gymnastics competitions across regional, national and international events in trampolining, double mini trampoline (DMT) and tumbling, with many becoming club and regional level Challenge Cup champions in their grades.

Other successes in 2024 included British and English Gymnastics national final qualifications, an England gold medal and a UK FIG silver medal. It also had two gymnasts selected for the England development squad for DMT, who achieved a gold medal and a 10th place at an international competition in Finland in November, with one selected next year for the main England DMT squad.

Children can choose if they want to take part in gym and trampolining recreationally, or develop competitively. The gymnasts put a lot of hard work and commitment into their training, and more will be attending competitions in 2025.

The club has also had a number of coaches receive their next level qualifications, with more coaches taking higher level qualifications in 2025.
