Okehampton Gym, Trampoline and DMT Club had a successful day at the South Devon Flyers annual competition on 13th July, coming home with five medals.
Most of the competitors are part of Okehampton’s new trampoline squad, which focuses on developing and training young trampolinists for competitions.
Competitors have to perform two routines in front of a panel of judges. The scores are then added together to form the final mark.
Okehampton’s competitors were up against more experienced performers in large classes. For many of them, it was their first competition.
The young people more than rose to the challenge, with Angus Bond, Miya Porter and William Bridges winning gold medals in National Development Plan (NDP) Level 2, U11 N3 and U11 N2 classes, with some excellent routines.
Isabella and Tallulah Pavey both won bronze medals in the NDP Level 1 and U9 N1 classes.
In U15 N2, Benjamin Judd narrowly missed a place on the podium, coming 4th. Faye Pimlott, Harrison King and Ella-Rose Petersen came 5th, 14th and 16th.
The club will be entering more competitions after the summer and currently trains on Wednesday evenings in the Okehampton College Gym. For more information, call 01837 54546 or email Vicki @ ocrasport.org.uk.
