For the club’s advanced gymnasts, it was a chance to perform new double somersaults in preparation for events later in the season. For others, it was an opportunity to prepare for the schools and NDP competitions, and for some a first attempt at competing trampolining.

In the elite open competition, Owen Pitman, Madison Vine and Arran Stannard-Heap all successfully performed new double somersaults to achieve 1st, 4th and 12th place respectively, and team gold.

Zola Taylor and Freya Cavalier-White performed two stylish routines in the Club 1 category to achieve 1st and 2nd place, with Elise Boucher performing two solid routines to take silver in Club 2. Faye Hooper also gave tidy performances to win gold in the Schools 5/6 category.

In the NDP1 U13 class, Eliza Luke and Alice Smith gave excellent performances to achieve 1st and 10th place, with Tasmine Paterson and Matthew Luckhurst showing good form to achieve 2nd and 9th place in NDP1 13+. Imogen Spooncer performed two confident routines to take 4th place in the NDP5 category.

The Flyers’ final competitor of the day was Esther Smith, who performed two neat routines to take 1st place in Award 6 8+.

Okehampton Flyers’ head coach, Vicki Pritchard, said: ‘Well done to all of our gymnasts for giving such stylish performances and a huge thank you to Angus Bond and Bethan Honey for coaching on the day. Thank you also to Joanne Vine and Ann Smith for judging, and to all of the parents and performers who bed marshalled over the day.’
