SNAP (Special Needs in the Park)

Image: Natalie trampolining SNAPSNAP is a fun, social club for children and young people with special needs to make friends and learn new skills.

Led by Melissa Coyle, Elaine Lightfoot and Vicki Pritchard, children and young people meet every Thursday, 6.45-8.15pm, to enjoy music, dance, gymnastics, trampolining, and develop throwing, catching and other fundamental movement skills through games and other sports.

The club also organises other activities outside of the Thursday evening sessions, including bowling trips and drama. Many of its participants have taken part in the Devon Games to Inspire and South West Rotary Youth Games. Club members have also enjoyed giving drama performances in front of an audience!

The club relies on support from volunteers and gives parents time to relax and socialise.

SNAP has been visited by the Down’s Syndrome Association, and its work and sessions were featured in a DSA video to promote Down’s Syndrome Awareness week.

SNAP is great fun and new members are always welcome. For more details or to join, please contact snap.okey@gmail.com, 07851257733, or Vicki Pritchard at vicki@ocrasport.org.uk.
